Site News: Shrines
- Ace of Hearts has been nominated for "Favorite Animanga Character" at the 2010 Fansite Pageant. Thank you so much! :)

- I am not sure what to do with Emerald Star. No, I am NOT AT ALL considering closing it, but I have been unhappy with its state for a long time. There's still so much that needs to be done, but it has been difficult to motivate to do anything about it. So much of the structure and written content is outdated, and I don't think the shrine has been able to keep up with changes in the shrine community. I'm considering putting it on official hiatus for a month or two, then starting completely from scratch. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Aw, really? I think Emerald Star has aged very well and, when compared to current/new shrines, still stands as one of the best. The structure or style in the shrine community at the current moment isn't always the best. Maybe it's because I like old school websites more, so yours is easier to follow than other shrines. But I like all the quirky little things like the Always Makoto, her ensemble of crushes, and even the "You know you like... when..." list.

But I know the feeling of having something for so long that it undeniably feels old. :/ How about putting an disclaimer up while you're revamping, like Tamisa did with Gippal, so that fan can still read the good stuff?

Another idea, if you decide to completely re-do it, is to put all your older stuff in an archive section, like Stef did with Squall. (Sorry I only have FF examples. I'm obsessed!) People still like the content there, so its a shame to delete it all.

Also, you could do a layout redesign first. That way, you can re-familiarize yourself with the content and figure out what you want to keep versus what you don't.

Ahh, why are my comments so long??? x_x

Super late getting back to you (sorry!), but thank you! I'm really glad that other people appreciate old-school shrines. I've never seemed to grow out of the aesthetic.

The structure or style in the shrine community at the current moment isn't always the best. This really made me think. You're right: there's nothing that says I can't design the way I want just because everyone else is doing something different. I'm really thinking of returning to my old style, or a hybrid of my old and new styles.

And I definitely plan to leave it up while I revamp.

Thanks a lot for your thoughts! They really got me thinking! :)
